The Marley Brothers release Cornerstone as a tribute to their father, the legendary musician Bob Marley today, February 4, and headline the Cali Vibes festival tomorrow. The Bob Marley Roots 77 birthday tribute concert with performances by Ziggy Marley, a Stephen Marley livestream tribute, and many other highlights take place during a week’s worth of events, including an environmental beach clean-up and concert, a docuseries, and art shows at the Bob Marley Museum in Jamaica.

Urban One honours trailblazers who wrote the soundtrack of Black America

The fourth annual Urban One Honors presents a showcase of Black American music seldom seen in music award shows in or outside the U.S., emceed by Oscar-winning R&B musician Ne-Yo in his debut role as award show host. The Urban One media network released a lineup of incredible performers, including H.E.R. as the show opener, actress Eva Marcille as backstage host interviewing notable award presenters, industry honourees and legendary artists who wrote the soundtrack of Black America. The show premieres on digital and cable on Monday, MLK Day in the U.S.

Music producer Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival turns deadly in Texas

Astroworld Festival founder and Latin Grammy-winning performer Travis Scott spent the week in Houston, Texas where he grew up, at opening ceremonies for the city in preparation for the music festival on the weekend. The crowd rushed security as soon as the gates to the concert grounds opened but it wasn’t until later during the show that tragedy struck.

Rock fiction writer’s first live concert since lockdown on trip to the UK

On Dec. 10, 2019, I stepped out on a whim to see Frank Turner reunite with his former band Möngöl Hörde at Lee’s Palace in Toronto. It was a loud punk rock set, and a great end to the year’s busy concert calendar.
