Music bridges the generational gap between a grandmother, a mother and a daughter. Orietta Salinas revisits her coming of age story through the act of taking her daughter to her first rock concert in metropolitan Santiago.

My daughter turned 13 and on her birthday my friend Muriel gave her a black T-shirt with Tarja Turunen’s face and bewitching green eyes. “Oh, it’s just what I wanted!” my newbie teenager screeched, hands on cheeks, eyes wide with joy. “The best part,” added Muriel, “is that Tarja is coming to Santiago next month to give a concert”. My daughter was stunned as she turned to me, “mom…please?”
