Live Aid benefit concert for Venezuela to avert humanitarian crisis

Alesso, Danny Ocean, Diego Torres, José Luis Rodríguez “El Puma”, Luis Fonsi, Maluma, and Paulina Rubio are among a long line-up of artists invited to perform for Venezuela Aid Live, a concert organized by entrepreneur Richard Branson to raise funds for humanitarian aid to save a country he says is on the brink of starvation. The concert will be live-streamed around the world.

He introduced a new sound that crossed dance music with southern roots country and had the world dancing to a new beat. Avicii was known the world over for his ability to bring people together. Today, we learned that the 28-year-old musician, producer and EDM DJ has died.

Musician may have been victim of a scam at Quebec gas station

Musician Rushy Lion of the reggae band Jah & I is upset because he was profiled and robbed by an employee of an Esso station in Drummondville, Quebec when he tried to pay for his gas. The man behind the counter took his pre-paid credit card, called the police on him, and refused to give him back his card.

Explosion at Ariana Grande Concert in Manchester Arena Being Treated as a Terrorist Attack

UPDATE –  “Families and many young people were out to enjoy a concert and have lost their lives,” said Chief Constable Ian Hopkins, referring to the many young fans of Ariana Grande who died in an explosion in the Manchester Arena last night shortly after the singer completed her last set and left the stage.

The death count has risen to 22 and the number of injuries along with it; some 59 people are spread among eight hospitals in the Greater Manchester area. There may be more to come and more too, may succumb to their injuries.

Popular journalist Desmond Cole posted a letter to his followers on Facebook about his recent release from his columnist position at the Toronto Star. Cole takes an activist stance on racial issues in his bi-monthly column in the newspaper, writing on “anti-Black racism and white supremacy in Canada.”
