Get in the mood for house and techno on the Island with these photos

To get you in the mood for the Electric Island season finale on Labour Day weekend, we’ve put together some photos of Electric Island Civic Day, the most recent iteration of the music festival. Take a look behind-the-scenes. You may see a bassist and a lead singer from a punk band, an actress from a pop culture TV drama, your favourite DJ from the club, your broker, your social worker, or – is that you? – immersed in the crowd.

This Labour Day you’ll be treated to Dirty Bird ambassador Claude VonStroke, a name that’s become synonymous with techno – CLR boss Chris Liebing, Montreal’s electronic act CRi, arguably the biggest name in dance music.

The international lineup includes Innervision’s co-founder Dixon, the UK’s incredible electronic duo Dusky, All Day I Dream frequenter Gab Rhome, Australia’s rising star Mall Grab, Canada’s beloved techno duo My Favorite Robot, No.19 co-founder Nitin, Australian House icon and Defected habitué Sonny Fodera, Crew Love members and day-time vibers Soul Clap, Cocoon honcho Sven Väth, the highly respected and vocal Chicago-native The Black Madonna, and last but not least, Finnish producer and Anjunadeep regular Yotto.

It wouldn’t be Electric Island without some bona fide local love! On warm-up duty will be Brian Johnson, Jamie Kidd, Jeff Button, Koki, Sam Haze, Simon Jain and Terence Kissner. Arrive early to support your troops, because there’s no better way to get the party started than with a proper fam-jam.
