Electric Island season opener on Toronto Islands

Get ready as the number one open-air concert and picnic series across Canada moves into its seventh season with the festival opener at one of our favourite spots on the Toronto Islands over the long weekend.

The festival quickly earned its reign as the best of the best producing five events over the course of each summer, showcasing international artists. This event includes a trip across Lake Ontario to a hideaway nestled in a cluster of trees on the water of the picturesque Hanlan’s Point on Toronto Islands on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

Mainland Electric Islanders will voyage across Lake Ontario to Hanlan’s Point by water taxi or ferry. Once you step foot onto the island, the music from the Main Stage will permeate through the grassy walkway. Follow the path leading to the sounds of bonafide industry veteran Dubfire, Berlin masterminds ÂME (DJ Set), burgeoning Brooklyn pair Bedouin, who have come to embody deep, desert-inspired music, Detroit’s Women on Wax founder DJ Minx, and Toronto favourites Jonathan Rosa, and Carerra & Tavares.

The Moog Audio Stage will host Canadian record label Rawthentic with a special showcase, featuring back-to-back sets with Toronto’s very own tech-house titans and Rawthentic label founders Carlo Lio and Nathan Barato, house gangster and purveyor of jackin’ beats DJ Sneak, the sultry sounds of Puerto-Rican-born, Berlin-based Caleb Calloway, and finally Chicago house hero DJ Deeon, who’s best known for his all-night marathon sets and hedonistic disco.

The season opener is not to be missed, so dust off those dancing shoes, and get ready for season seven. Dress in layers to keep warm and comfortable for the spring air on the water. Electric Islanders like to strip down, as we’ve pointed out previously, this will allow you some versatility. Temperatures will be in the range of 14 to 19 degrees celsius.
