Life-size flower arrangement artwork shaped like Betty White

The Betty White Mannequin is a full-size flower art installation piece in tribute to the late actress and her love of dogs. | Video |

The life-size Betty White Mannequin made out of flowers that’s on show in a shopping plaza in the Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood is part of Fleurs de Villes FEMMES. The installation is called Fleurs de Villes CHIEN. Chien means dog. White’s statue is at the centre of the display and is surrounded by dogs made from flowers. People are encouraged to bring their real dogs into the installation and take photos by the sign that says “Place pooch here.” The Chien artwork is just one of about 40 such works on display in the area, indoor and outdoor. Fleurs de Villes FEMMES‘ co-founder Karen Marshall gave me an overview of the Betty White artwork in Yorkville Village on Wednesday.

The Betty White Mannequin is number 36 on the Fleurs de Villes map.

There will be floral workshops and demos from May 4-8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on level one of the former Manulife Centre. There will be a Saturday Flower Market open in various locations on May 7 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. where fresh blooms are available just in time for Mother’s Day. Book it at fleursdevilles.eventbrite.ca

I will keep you posted between now and early Mother’s Day morning for specific sculptures not to miss when you take your mom on the tour. If you miss it you’ll get to see photos and videos.
